Basic sewing supplies (including thread, pins, scissors and seam ripper) Sewing machine in good working order, extension cord Iron and board (unless supplied by workshop host) Rotary cutter, mat, and ruler (6” x 24” Omnigrid recommended, and 6" or 6-1/2" square) Notebook and pencil Book - Traditional Quilts with a Twist by Maggie Ball (Krause Publications, 2006). Books available for purchase from Maggie at class. Fabric, excluding backing for Northwest Bears setting (see pages 102-104 of book, light background in blocks and setting squares – you may substitute colors of your own choice): 2 yards light background fabric (blocks, setting squares and triangles) ¼ each of 2 dark fabrics (green and brown triangles in Bear’s Paw blocks) 1-¾ yards medium (green fern in mini-blocks and outer border) ¾ yard medium light (beige middle border) ¾ yard medium dark (tan in mini-blocks and inner border) 2/3 yard for binding Fabric, excluding backing for Royal Bears setting (see pages 102-104 of book, setting squares differ from block background – you may substitute colors of your own choice): 1-¾ yards light (blocks and middle border) 1-¾ yards multi (mini-blocks and outer border) ¾ yards red (in blocks and inner border) 1/3 yard blue (sashing in blocks) 1 yard blue (setting squares and triangles) 2/3 yard for binding Option – before embarking on the entire quilt, you may prefer to learn the piecing techniques by simply making one or two blocks. In this case, bring small quantities of fabric. Single blocks may be made into attractive pillows or used to add pizzazz to tote bags. Any questions?
